What to Expect
Ashgabat Airport has two terminals: a brand new main building that serves regional and long-haul destinations, and a small, older structure that’s used for charter flights. Amenities include several eateries, bars, and shops. WiFi is available for a fee.
Where to Sleep
Head to the Turkmenistan Airlines office, which reportedly has benches and feels safe. Due to the many early and late night domestic flights, there are usually other passengers sitting or sleeping in this area, so you won’t feel alone. For uninterrupted sleep, check out the nearby hotels. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
In September 2018, a reader inquired about the availability of a lounge when he was at the airport and was told that one did not exist.
