What to Expect

Caen-Carpiquet Airport (code: CFR) has a small terminal with limited facilities. Inside, you’ll find a few souvenir kiosks and vending machines. For more food options, a restaurant is on the airport grounds, and grocery stores are within a short walk. The good news is that the airport WiFi is free. The airport is open from 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM (Mon-Fri), 5:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Sat), and 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM (Sun). Hours may be extended to accommodate non-commercial flights.

A restaurant outside the terminal on the airport grounds, Les Chauds d’hier, is open seven days a week.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover

ATMs / Cash Machines – There are no ATMs at the airport. The closest machines are five minutes away at Cora hypermarket in Rots or Carrefour Market in Bretteville sur Odon.

Baby Care Facilities – If you are travelling with an infant, the washrooms in the departure area have baby changing facilities.

Children’s Play Area – When you want to ensure your kids burn off all their energy before their flight, take them to the children’s play area. Location: Airside, Departures lounge.

Currency Exchange – Not available in the airport.

Duty-Free & Shopping – Duty-free shopping is not available. Shopping is limited to souvenir/local products sold in kiosks.

Luggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage carts are available. Locations: the Car Park • in front of Departures Hall • in front of Arrivals Hall. Rate: A refundable deposit of € 1 is required.

Magazines – Free magazines are available for your enjoyment in the terminal.

Post Office – Drop off your last-minute postcards to friends and family from the airport’s mailbox. Location: Opposite from departures.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Buses

Bus company Twisto offers bus service between CFR airport and the Caen city center. The LIANE 3 bus runs every 15 minutes between 5:30 AM – 12:30 AM (Mon-Sat) and 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM (Sun & bank holidays).

A reloadable bus card can be purchased at the airport sales desk for €0.20. The bus fare is €1.50. Visit the Twisto Bus website for more routes, schedules and fare information.

For bus service to Caen-Tilly/Seulles, take Line 8 with the regional service Bus Verts. The bus stop is across from the airport terminal.

Car Rentals

Companies offer car rental services on-site, including Avis/Budget • Enterprise • Europcar • Hertz • Sixt.

Taxis

A taxi stand is located just outside the Arrivals Hall. Taxis are timed to meet all flight arrivals and departures. Approximate fares for a ride to the Caen city center are €24.00 (Mon-Sat) or €30.00 (Sunday & bank holidays). For more fare estimates, visit the airport website.
