Although it’s called an international airport, it really doesn’t strike me as such – a traveller
What to Expect
Chengdu Airport is spread over two large, modern terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Amenities include massage chairs, a wide range of eateries, both Chinese and Western, plus a variety of shops. Most bathrooms feature squat toilets, but Western toilets are available to those willing to look. Free WiFi helps pass the time. For added comfort while you wait, economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for its location and access information.
Where to Sleep
It is unclear whether overnight stays are permitted. If you want to risk it, know that some seats are armrest-free and it is generally quiet. Otherwise, for uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer shuttle service and most are quite affordable. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships
Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there are lounges that you can enter through a lounge membership program (ie. Priority Pass). Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!
