To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Erfurt-Weimar Airport.

What to Expect

Erfurt Airport (code: ERF) has two small terminals, A and B, but currently only Terminal B is in use. The airport primarily serves leisure destinations across Europe, with many seasonal routes. Amenities are limited to a couple small shops, a landside restaurant, and an airside cafe/bar, though none are open 24 hours. Free WiFi is available to help pass the time.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airport Tours – Find out what happens at the airport during a behind-the-scenes airport tour. A variety of tours are available including a photography tour, a night tour and a classic tour. Tours must be arranged in advance. Rates starting at: 9,50 € (adults) / 7,00 € (child).

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Location: Terminal B, Ground Floor.

Baby Care Facilities – Baby Change facilities are available on the First Floor only.

Currency Exchange – Not available.

Duty Free & Shopping – A duty-free shop is located airside. Newspapers, magazines, snacks, souvenirs, and more can be purchased from The Air Shop, which also features a small cafe, located landside.

Food & Drinks – Two dining options are available: Air Bistro (Location: Landside, Upper Floor) • KaffeeBar (Location: Airside.) Hours: 10:00AM – 5:00PM, and 2 hours before flight departure.

Information Desk – Need help finding your way? An information desk is located on the Ground Floor, near the main entrance. Hours: unknown.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Lockers are available in the Parking Garage. Rates are 2,00€/bag/day. Only coins are accepted.

Observation Deck – Relax and watch planes taking off and landing from the vantage point of the airport’s observation deck. Location: First Floor. Hours: open 24 hours a day. You can purchase food from the Airport Bistro and take it outside with you. A smoking section is available.

Travel Agencies – If you are arriving in Erfurt and need local arrangements or help planning a really last minute trip abroad, there are travel agencies with offices at the airport that can probably be of assistance. At the time of this update, the travel agency names are not known; however, they are open 7 days a week, including holidays.

Bus

Car rental services are offered in the pavilion between Terminals A and B. Onsite car rental agencies include App2drive • Hertz.

Light Rail

Line 4 travels between Wiesenhügel and Bindersleben, stopping along the way at Erfurt Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) and Erfurt Airport. Connections to numerous local and long-distance trains are available from Erfurt train station including the new high speed connection between Berlin and Münich. The airport tram stop is located across from the terminal. Trams run every 10 minutes (30 minutes on weekends), and take about 20 minutes to reach Erfurt railway station. Taxi

Taxis are available outside the terminal. If no taxis are waiting outside, the employees at the Information Desk can call one for you.
