HLP Airport Overview
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down of what to expect during your time at Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
What to Expect
Originally a dedicated military airport, in 2014 Jakarta Halim Airport (code: HLP) started taking scheduled commercial flights to ease traffic from Jakarta’s main airport, Soekarno-Hatto. A second terminal is used only for pilgrims travelling during Hajj season. Services and facilities are limited, but there is WiFi in the paid-use lounge. See our Airport Lounges section for locations and rates.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Otherwise, taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area. For a fair rate, insist on using the meter, or opt for a ride with one of the reputable “premium” taxi companies that serve the airport.
Pro-Tip: A reader tells us “It is preferable to use Grab or GoJek for taxis, normal taxi companies are also available, also applies to CGK.”
