NKG Airport Overview
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Nanjing Lukou International Airport.
What to Expect
Nanjing Airport (code: NKG) is divided into Terminals 1 and 2. Currently, T2 may handle all traffic while T1 undergoes renovation. The busy airport is reportedly clean and has a variety of shops, eateries, and cafes, but the security and check-in processes can be chaotic or unclear. Free WiFi helps pass the time. For added comfort while you wait, there are a few lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information. An on-premise hotel has pay-to-use fitness and shower facilities.
Where to Sleep
Travellers report that most benches are equipped with armrests, making lie-down naps tricky. For uninterrupted sleep, a capsule hotel is located in Terminal 2. A more traditional hotel is located 2 minute walk from the Departures Hall. Other hotels are nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for locations or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security. For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
If sleeping in Nanjing Airport does not appeal to you, there are hotels near the airport:
- Airport Sleep Bar – A reader (October 2018) tells us there is a new capsule hotel. Here’s what they say: “In terminal 2 (currently the only operating terminal) there is a brand new capsule hotel. It’s 260 RMB or 32 USD for a night. They will let two people share a capsule. It’s hard to find so ask information for the “airport sleep bar”. It’s on level two on the furthest pathway to the parking lot”.
- Pullman Hotel Nanjing Lukou International Airport – (2 minute walk from the airport) The hotel is just a 30 second walk from the Departures Hall, and linked to both terminals. Five-minute walk to the airport transportation hub. No airport shuttle. » Check Rates
- Nanjing Fliport Airport Hotel – (4 minute drive from the airport) Airport transportation is available. » Check Rates
