Where to Sleep

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Airport Lounges

Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door:

  • Business Lounge (East Side) – Location: Airside, 3rd Floor. Hours: 8:30AM – 7:30PM. Lounge Access: Pay at the Door (1,080 yen for 1 hour)

Airline Lounges

If you are a First or Business Class traveller you may have access to the lounges listed below. For more information, check the airline’s web site.

  • Japan Airlines Sakura Lounge – Location: Airside, 2nd Floor, near Gate 6.
  • ANA Signet – Location: Airside, 2nd Floor, near Gate 5.

If sleeping in Sendai Airport does not appeal to you, there are hotels near the airport:

Airport WiFi/Internet

Free WiFi is available in a maximum of two 1-hour sessions per user. Connect to the “00-FREE_Wi-Fi_Sendai_Airport” network. WiFi is also accessible in the UCC Cafe Express Store (Softbank Free Wi-Fi) or from the Business Lounge (paid access).

If you do not have a mobile device, there are coin-operated Internet @ Stations located on the 2nd Floor Departures area. Fee: 10 minutes for ‎¥‎ 100.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover At The Airport

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: in the Domestic and International Arrivals lobbies. Operating hours vary but there are no 24 hour ATMs.

Baby Care Facilities – Changing tables, sink, and privacy for feeding are available in the Nursing Rooms. Location: International Arrival Lobby, 1st Floor • 1F Nursery Room • Domestic Boarding Area, 2nd Floor • International Boarding Area, 2nd Floor. Hours: 6:30AM – 9:30PM.

Car Rentals – The following companies offer car rental services onsite: Nippon Rent a Car • Toyota Rent a Car • Nissan Rent a Car • Times Car Rental • Orix Rent a Car.

Changing Rooms – Locations: International Arrival Lobby, 2nd Floor (for women) • International Arrival Lobby, 1st Floor (for men).

Currency Exchange – 77 Bank offers currency exchange service. Location: International Arrival Lobby, 1st Floor. Hours: 9:00AM – 3:00PM (teller window) or 9:00AM – 8:00PM (foreign currency ATM).

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty-free shopping is available on the 2nd Floor, along with a variety of souvenir and retail stores. A convenience market is located on the 1st Floor (Hours:6:30AM – 9:30PM).

Food & Drinks – Food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules with many open 6:20AM – last flight. At the time of this update, there are no 24-hour dining options. Vending machines are available in the airport.

Information Desk – Location: 1st floor, landside. Hours: 6:45AM – 9:15PM.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Coin-operated lockers are available at the following rates: ¥ 400 – ¥ 500 for a medium or large-sized locker for up to 12 hours, and ¥ 400 – ¥ 500 per 24 hours thereafter. Location: Both ends of the 1st and 2nd floors.

Massage – Coin-operated massage chairs are available. Fee: ¥ 200 for 10 minutes. Location: International Plaza, 2nd Floor.

Medical Services – There are five Automated External Defibrillators (AED). Location: Domestic Arrival Lobby, first floor; next to the public phone booths in the domestic and international boarding gates, second floor; between DATE MARCHE and the escalator, second floor; and next to the light plane at the Center Plaza.

Mobile Charging – Fee: 30 minutes for ¥ 200. Locations: Domestic Boarding area near the public phones, 2nd Floor. • Domestic Check-In counter (west side), 2nd Floor. • International Check-In counter (east side) near the public phones, 2nd Floor. • opposite the Royal Coffee Shop, 3rd Floor.

Museum – Sendai Airport Museum is located on the 3rd Floor.

Observation Deck – Relax and watch planes taking off and landing from the vantage point of the airport’s observation deck. The “Smile Deck” is accessible by stairs or dedicated elevator.

Post Office – A mailbox is located outside of exit 1 of the Domestic Arrivals.

Rest Zones – Not available.

Showers – Not available.

Smoking Areas – Locations: Domestic Boarding Area, 1st Floor • International Boarding Area, 2nd Floor.

The airport is open from 6:10AM – 9:30PM.


As of March 2018, Sendai airport is served by the following airlines: ANA • EVA Air • Asiana Airlines • Air China • Japan Airlines.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Sendai Airport and JR Sendai Station are connected by an airport rail link service called the “Sendai Airport Access Line”. This is a cheaper, faster option than many of the airport buses. For rates, routes and schedules, visit the Sendai Airport website.


Taxis are readily available for hire at the taxi stand on 1F. At the time of this January 2018 update, a one-way journey between the airport and JR Sendai Station is ¥ 5,860 and takes about 35 minutes.
