What to Expect
The recently built Shantou Airport has two terminals, Domestic and International, housed in one building. Amenities include several eateries, shops, a duty-free area, pay-to-use massage chairs, and free WiFi.
Where to Sleep
Based on a review, it seems this airport closes nightly so overnight stays are not possible. Have a backup plan if you’re camping out. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs, operated by Bank of China, are available 24/7. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside, Domestic Departure Hall, 3rd Floor.
Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage trolleys are available free of charge.
Currency Exchange – Foreign exchange services are available at the Bank of China. See ATM info above.
Drinking Water – Thirsty? Drinking water fountains are available free of charge. Locations: throughout the airport.
Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free is available at the airport. There is also a small selection of shops to pass your time in the airport. A number of shops sell pre-packaged foods and drinks (alcohol and non-alcohol) for take away including the Tangu Food Store (D02 (next to Gate 4 of the Arrival Hall).
Food & Drinks – There are 8 restaurants available (landside and airside) during flight operational hours. At the time of this update, we did not have any information regarding the availability of any 24 hour restaurants.
Luggage Storage & Lockers – Hourly and daily storage are available on the third floor of the terminal. Cost: unknown.
Luggage Wrapping – Protect your bags from theft and damage by having your bags wrapped in plastic. Location: third floor of the terminal. The cost is 10 yuan per piece.
Massage Chairs – Massage chairs are available. Locations: D05 next to Gate 5 Arrival Hall • B21 (departure area near the boarding bridge on the 20th). Rates: Unknown.
Medical Services – If you require medical attention, a first-aid station is open 24 hours a day. Location: first floor, to the left of the arrival hall 4.
Mobile Charging – Recharge your mobile devices airside, on the third floor of domestic and international departure lounges.

Showers – Not available.
Smoking – Permitted in designated Airside smoking areas: Domestic Departures, near Gate 13 and Gate 11 • International Departures, near Gate 21.
Spa -Fuqiao Muzudian provides foot care services. Location: B-14 (next to the boarding gate of Terminal 20A in the domestic isolation area). Hours and Rates: unknown.
Based on information provided in a review, the airport does not permit sleeping in the airport overnight.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport
Airport Express Bus
The airport is well connected to an Airport Express Bus system. Destinations include Shantou Railway Station, Golden Golf Hotel, Xiashan Bus Station and more.
Taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area of the airport. The meters rarely work, so be prepared to negotiate a fare with the driver before starting your journey.
