What to Expect

The small terminal at Tarapoto Airport (code: TPP) serves domestic routes. Plan ahead for snacks and entertainment as we are unable to confirm any shops or eateries. WiFi is available inside the airport lounge, which economy class passengers can pay to enter. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information.

Sleeping in Tarapoto Airport

This airport closes nightly, after the day’s last flight until 7:00AM, so overnight stays are not possible. For uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer free shuttle service. See the Airport Hotels section below for locations or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

Taxis

Taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area. There are no meters, so negotiate a fare with the driver before starting your journey. If travelling light and on a super-tight budget, mototaxis are another option. Although cheaper and more widely available than regular taxis, mototaxis are not for the faint of heart, so bring a little extra courage with you for your trip!
