To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Ürümqi Diwopu Airport.
What to Expect
Ürümqi Diwopu Airport has three terminals that have been either recently built or renovated. Terminal 1 handles regional and low-cost routes, T2 serves most domestic traffic, and T3, the newest, is for international flights. A fourth terminal may be under construction. Eating and shopping options are available in all terminals. WiFi is available inside several airport lounges, which economy class passengers may be able to access. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for location and access information.
Where to Sleep
Based on a traveller review, the airport closes nightly, so overnight stays are not possible. Have a backup plan if you’re planning to spend the night. For uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer shuttle service. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
