What to Expect
- A new terminal (T3) opened in 2017 and all flights now operate out of this terminal.
- Drinking fountains are found everywhere so you can save money on bottled water. Washrooms are kept very clean.
- The airport is well connected to the city via train and bus for onward travel.
- Restaurants generally operate from 6:00AM – 10:00PM. Plan ahead.
- WiFi is available. See WiFi in the airport guide below.
Where to Sleep
- A recent review (2018) reported plenty of long metal benches to lay down on, bring a mat as they are not padded.
- For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships
Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there are lounges that you can enter through a lounge membership program (ie. Priority Pass). Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

WiFi is available at Wuhan Tianhe Airport inside the lounges. According to a recent review (2018) a reader was unable to connect to the airport’s free WiFi service despite having a Chinese mobile number.
More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover At The Airport
ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Location: Unknown.
Baby Care Facilities – Available throughout the airport.
Commercial Center – The center offers the usual business services and a place to charge your electronics while using the internet. At the time of this update, the location is not known.
Currency Exchange – Industrial and Commercial Bank of China has a bank branch available and offers currency services. Location: Unknown.
Drinking Water – Thirsty? Drinking water fountains to refill your water bottles are available free of charge. Locations: throughout the terminals.
Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free is available as well as 80 other shops in both terminals.
Food & Drinks – There are options available throughout the airport, both Landside and Airside. Most operate from approx. 6:00AM – 10:00PM. At the time of this update, we did not have any information regarding the availability of any 24 hour restaurants.
Information Desk – Location: in the Business Facility Terminal.
Luggage Storage & Lockers – Location: Commercial Terminal 2, near the Samsonite Luggage Store. Hours and rates are not known.
Luggage Wrapping – Location: in Commercial Terminal 2. Rates and hours are not known.
Medical Services – 2 First-Aid locations are available in the Commercial Terminal. Hours: unknown. There is also a dedicated emergency center located about 300m from the terminal which is open 24 hours.
Mobile Charging – You can charge your electronics at the Airport’s Commercial Center. Location: Unknown.
Rest Zones – Not available.
Showers – Not available.
Smoking Room – Smoking is permitted in the smoking room on Level 2.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport
The airport is well connected to the bus transportation city offering 7 connections via city buses as well as long distance coach bus options to 7 destinations.
Metered taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area of the airport. To ensure that you are paying a fair price for your journey, insist on using the meter.
The Tianhe Airport Railway Station is right under the Airport Transportation Center. The journey to Hankou Railway Station only takes 14 minutes and rates start at CNY7. The train to Xiaogan Railway Station takes around half an hour and rates start at CNY13.
