Don't expect helpful airport staff

(Guest Review) Arrived 2 hours before take off of our flight. Long, straggly queue for Ryan Air checkin. Eventually more desks opened. It turned out our suitcase was not booked into the return flight. Directed to another long straggly queue. Asked airport staff member if I could be fast tracked, as I only had 40 mins before my flight left and just had to pay for the case , whereas a lot of the people in the queue were taking ages booking flights for themselves. Was told no and he just shrugged when I said what if I missed my plane. After another 20 mins saw someone else with baggage to pay for taken to front of the queue! Went and complained and was allowed to pay. Checked in bag, and was told the gate closed in10 mins. Ran to security and asked if I could be fast tracked. I was told only if the people before me in the queue agreed, which they did. Ran to gate, boarded plane and it left 10 mins later. In Manchester the staff come along the queue calling people out if their flight is about to go. No Help at Hamburg at all. Rubbish social skills and totally unhelpful. I am half German myself and ashamed how these staff members behaved.

Frankfurt Airport Review

(Guest Review) Everything is spacious, but that leads to longs treks whenever you want anything (food, 1.5miles this way, bathroom, 2 miles that way). There were some quiet areas, amazing, with newspapers and magazines (mostly german) and coffee, the lights were dim and around half the chairs are longer, to raise your legs, very comfy.

(Guest Review by cocofried) Avoid Frankfurt Main Airport for connecting flights. Our luggage was delayed for 2 days there and stuff was stolen from both of our luggage.

(Guest Review) Cots are available in concourse C, arrivals hall (top floor where the lounge is). The cots line the long hallway. There were plenty of them, and the noise in this part of the airport comes only in waves (i.e., isn't constant).

Frankfurt Airport

(Guest Review) Terminal Z was ok but Terminal B where all the Africa connecting flights depart from was a dump. We also had to manually board the plane after an uncomfortable bus ride. Do not buy any water in the airport, after security check at terminal Z you'll be checked again at terminal b and it will be thrown away. No charging ports or Wifi at terminal B. Customer service is also different, quite substandard. If you're flying from USA to Nigeria just forget about United/Lufthansa, take delta directly from Atlanta. BTW saying 'last but least' is insulting and it is 'last but not least'.

Yay for sleeping cots!

by web-administrator (August, 2016)

Pros: -
Cons: -

(Guest Reviews) For sleeping go to airport gate C. In the long hallway there are literally hundreds of cots with camping air pads on top to lay and sleep flat. All airports should have these. Excellent sleeping experience. The staff don't want you to know for some reason (maybe to keep people in their gate area), but it is wonderful. There's also some permanent curvy leaning back seats in the hallway of gate B, but they're not good at all.

Frankfurt Airport Review

(Guest Review) After connecting through FRA more than 20 times, I learned my way around the airport the hard way. There is either no information posted (e.g. how to get to Sky Line), or the information is confusing since you can get to a given gate three ways: the Skytrain, or the underground tunnel, or the long walk. The confused traveler doesnt know that, and there is no one around to ask. If you miss the international connection, and you are directed to contact your airline (e.g. United) you have to go through the immigration. But, if you are required to have an entrance visa, and obviously you dont have one (since you are making an international connection) you are stuck. My recommendation to infrequent traveler is: avoid FRA.

Best Frankfurt experience yet, not sure what that means though.

(Guest review by Hawaiirun) I have had the opportunity to fly in/out of Frankfurt 4 times now, the last outbound flight I took was definitely the best. I arrived at the airport via train, what a breeze (from Hannover Germany), train connects right under the airport, took the elevator up one level and there is a luggage drop-off (Condor) so that you do not have to drag your suitcase through the airport. Easy peasy. Check-in and security were also a breeze. I forget what our gate was but we were catching a flight to Halifax, Canada and our gate area had plenty of restaurant choices, water fountains (I took my empty water bottle through security and filled it several times) and great reclined chairs with foot rests (along with charging points). All in all, pleasant outbound flight. I dislike this airport in general because it is too big, takes forever to get anywhere and usually takes your plane about 30 minutes to taxi/park. We were pleasantly shocked by how quickly the landing/taxi'ing (not really a word!) was on our return flight but should not have been too excited as it took our luggage about 45 minutes to arrive which left us with a 15 minute run to catch our train which left us about 3 minutes to spare - we had prebooked. Always better to leave yourself more time for the unexpected. So although I didn't sleep in the airport, I was comfortable when I needed to be and hydrated:) and have come to terms with the fact that it is big and you need to always allow extra time.

(Guest Review by Manijeh MirabzadehArdakani) Travelling from Iran to Ottawa on May 27th 2016 . I made a stop over at FRA.via Lufthansa airlines. Being on a wheelchair and severe lower back pain I was stopped for security process to be checked since explosive trace detector machine was showed positive signs of having explosives in my carry- on bag. It just frustrated me since a police man with his gun came and Stand near me ,I was so scared and it took 30 minutes of time for going through all my belongings ,nothing was found and I was left with a messy carry - on without any assistance or offer of help when discovered that there was not any explosives at all and I was really in pain . After that they start questioning me that have I been in contact with explosives during last week ? Finally I was so stressed that as soon as I arrived at Ottawa airport my condition required medical attention .Vomitting , cold sweating , fast heartbeat and high blood presure brught the medical team to me Imidiately .This was the worst experience that I had because of that stupid sensitive explosive detecting machine.

Quiet corner

by web-administrator (July, 2016)

Pros: -
Cons: -

(Guest Review) Tucked behind gate A20 are several rows of seats that can be slept in by laying across multiple individual seats. They are walled off, on three sides, from the main passenger traffic area and so somewhat quiet. The padding is a bit thin but useable. There is free coffee and, more importantly, hot chocolate near the boarding zone.

Frankfurt Airport Review

(Guest Review) I should avoid this airport like the plague. My girlfriend, a 50 year old Filipino teacher en route from Costa Rica via Bogota and Frankfurt to Thailand - in transit - was stripped searched and made to pee in front of security staff. It was a thoroughly unpleasant and traumatising experience and there was no apology, assistance or offer of help when it was discovered that she was totally innocent of carrying drugs. The manner of the security was reminiscent of the nazis! Furthermore when she arrived in Bangkok she discovered that her hold baggage had been tampered with and her suitcase damaged. No compensation was offered. The carrier was Lufthansa.

Frankfurt Airport Review

(Guest Review) The airport on Tuesday was far far too hot. People are walking long distances weighed down with coats and baggage. Everyone I saw was dripping with sweat and their clothes were wet with sweat. This was extremely debilitating and unhealthy. The high temperature was very unreasonable!

security abuse in Frankfurt airport

by web-administrator (May, 2016)

Pros: -
Cons: -

(Guest Review) I just want to say about the Frankfurt airport security abuse. They use very sensitive scanner that detect metals in your bras. This give the security a good reason to grab you for all body parts, stick fingers inside your bra and even between the legs. When I was asked the reason for that detailed search, the security told me that my sweater has metal strips (it was actually decorative metal thread and there was NO metal strips on my pants). It was disgusting and humiliating. It makes me wonder: how many bombs airport securities have found in the passengers vagina so far? Or was it just sadistic sexual pleasure for some female security??

'Explosives?!'

by web-administrator (April, 2016)

Pros: -
Cons: -

(Guest Review) So I was accused of having 'explosives' in my hand luggage today! I'm an underweight 110Ibs blonde European woman by the way (not that it matters or anything, just an FYI.') It just frustrated me because it took a half hour of my time for the guy to go through all of my personal belongings (including my underwear, tampons and a private video I made with my boyfriend on my iPad)', only for him to find out that I did not (surprise, surprise) have any 'explosives' in my carry on bags. Wme off the most is that he wasn't even apologetic about anything.. Just like, 'sorry ma'am, I just invaded your privacy because you may have bombed up the whole of Frankfurt.' Seriously? Did I just step into the Twikight Zone? Fix your stupid little 'explosive detecting' machines, assholes?!
