What to Expect

Guanajuato Airport’s single passenger terminal was recently renovated, completed in the summer of 2018. Amenities include four eateries and a few shops, all of which close by 11:30PM. Free WiFI helps pass the time. Economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for its location and rates.

Sleeping in Guanajuato Airport

It is possible to sleep in the public area of the terminal overnight, although more comfortable options will be available to you once you pass through security.  or uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer shuttle service for guests. Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter through a lounge membership program. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Machines are operated by BBVA (24 hours) and BanBajio. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Currency Exchange – Globo Cambio provides currency exchange services.  Location: Landside. Hours: Unknown. 5:00AM – 11:00PM (unconfirmed).

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free shopping is available at the Duty Free store from 5:00AM – 11:30PM. The airport also offers a few shops, along with an AeroMarket (4:30AM – 10:00PM).

Food & Drinks – Food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules. At the time of this update, there are no 24-hour dining options. You will find options open as early as 4:30AM and closing as late as 11:00PM.

transportationAirport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Bus

Travel like the locals do! If you are traveling light, you can travel at a fraction of the price of a taxi by taking a city bus to the main bus station in Silao, where bus connections are available to Guanajuato bus station. Buses run along the highway, about 200 meters or so from the airport. Although this is the cheapest way to travel to and from the city center, it’s not necessarily the safest, especially at night. Taxis

Taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area approx. 4:30AM – 11:00PM. There are no meters, so negotiate a fare with the driver before starting your journey. As of this update, sample suggested fares (as per the airport) are Leon Downtown – $400 / Silao Downtown – $280 / Guanajuato Downtown – $485.
