"I landed in Dakar around 1.30am, not my first time here so I knew what to expect.
Coming out of arrivals, I was pounced on by a lot of taxi drivers, my flight to Abidjan was around 10am that morning; brushed them all off to find the restaurant. They were in the middle of renovations, but I wandered up to the restaurant to find a few others sleeping there. Ordered a beer which was vastly overpriced. Camped out on 3/4 restaurant chairs, air-con was on full blast so luckily I had something to keep me warm. Cockroaches were all over the place which didn't make me want to eat much. Mossies abound as well. After a few hours sleep I went down to see what was happening in the new terminal and got harassed by the military several times for wanting to see the screen just inside the main door. Finally checked-in, impressive new terminal which then brings you back into the old terminal after security. On my return I arrived at 3.30am from Abidjan & had to get to a friends place in Mermoz, had a lot of hassle getting a taxi at the correct price. I'm female & it would be intimidating for most people especially at that time in the morning but luckily found an honest driver having told over 10 to leave me alone!"
