"This is important folks - the Tana airport closes. We got in on the midnight Air France flight with plans to snooze/hang out until heading out on the early morning Diego Suarez flight but at 2 AM the airport shuts down and they kick you out. By that time we only survived thanks to a helpful security guard who took pity on us and found a friend to drive us to nearby airport hotel which thank goodness still had a few rooms. Tana is not a place you want to hang out outside the airport on the road overnight so make overnight arrangements. The hotel right by the airport (forget the name) is within 5 minutes, simple, cheap, and safe."
