Got stuck here for 3 hours due to delayed flight which happens quite often so I was told. Going thru security they were not clear that paying the departure fee had to be done before then and it was located on a different floor - not very convenient! I found security staff more stern than at other airports - I had some batteries in my pocket and they really yelled at me. Many airlines share the same gates so your departure gate can be very confusing. Just one restuarant; the menu is basic and extensive and reasonable. ATM by baggage pick up charges high fees, best use another in town. No flights after dark and the airport closes so be sure to make arrangements for a room if you get stuck there.

"Cuzco is in the mountains and is subject to rapid changes in weather conditions, since Peru's airline navigational equipment is very outdated, many flights are cancelled, some at the last minute. Cuzco, the airport for Machu Picchu, is quite large and has shops and restaurants....but a person cannot sleep in the airport....my flight was cancelled at the last minute, rescheduled for the next morning. I was ordered out of the airport, the airport closes after the day's last flight and people are not allowed to remain in the terminal. I took a taxi into town but it was the height of the tourist season and I could not find a hotel, I slept on the floor in the police station, Lan Peru is very arrogant, it offered no assistance at all in finding a place to sleep.
