"on my way back from nordkapp i came back to alta. after few hours of looking for a longer ride i gave up to find some warmer place (2 polar blouses and a jacket in the summer!:). just near the southern petrol station you could see and hear planes taking off right behind. they did close the airport at 11 pm but guards are friendly and let us stay there locked inside (alone!) together with passengers waiting for the morning flights (like 5 of us). in the morning good toilet and back on the road!"

"This airport actually closes at about 11 pm but the solitary bemused security guard was happy to lock up and let us sleep there, as long as we didn't go near the news stand and cafe which had a motion sensor. Though he said nothing about the x-ray machine and metal detector. This makes for a slightly bizzare experience and you'll probably be alone. The children's play area provides large squashy things to sleep on requiring some arrangement but comfort can be found. If the security guard isn't so nice you can probably pitch a tent on the nice stretch of grass outside, I doubt anybody will care."
