FEATURED REVIEWS
It has changed quite a bit since last time I slept there in 2005, so here you have some updates.
The airport is quite small, last flight is around midnight, first flight out at 6am (so check in desks open at 4am).
You basically have 2 choices:
- if you get there 'early' (around 10.30pm, which was not my case) as soon as you pass customs there are some benches (around 40 sitting spot). The light is always on there and the 'game-machines' are really close, and some make noises all night long. Still you can sleep there as long as you want, nobody will tell you anything.
- if you get there late (my case, I was on the latest flight, 11.35pm) then the above is all occupied. But there are 2 pubs and a blockbuster and they are close at night, they have very confortable benches and dim lights ... but you are only allowed to lay down until 4am, then a guard will come and tell you to get up.
In the summer the airport is open all night, so if you are a smoker you can go out and smoke, no problem. Dunno about winter.
It's Scotland, so it's cold. In August I slept with a sweat-shirt on, an covering myself with a towel. In winter, when I slept there years ago, it was in a sleeping bag.
There is also a prayer room upstairs and it was empty and open, I kind of thought of just closing the door and sleeping inside there, but it didn't feel right.
You can also sleep on the floor on the second floor, it's really quiet, there are just 3 computer and a shop, nothing else. But no benches, nothing whatsoever.
I didn't know there was a late night bus waiting for people coming on the last two flight to go to Glasgow, if I had know I would have taken it. It was past midnight when the last people came out and the bus was still waiting --- it doesn't say so on the web page of the airport).
All in all it wasn't a bad experience though.
