Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us about their time at Heraklion International Airport.

What to Expect

Heraklion International Airport consists of a small, recently renovated, terminal that primarily offers seasonal flights. Terminal amenities include a couple of eateries, bars, gift shop and duty free store, though previous reviewers were critical of high prices at these establishments. Previous reviewers were also critical about the terminal’s cleanliness, but the renovations may have helped. WiFi is available, and additional comfort can be found through fee-based access to one of the airport’s first class lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.

Where to Sleep

We are not clear yet on how renovations may have affected sleeping at this airport. Previous reviewers cited some couches on the landside second floor as a good sleeping spot, and suggested having eyeshade and earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones to induce better sleep. If you have slept in this airport since the renovations were completed (March 2018), please write a review. For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.

Good to Know

A recent reviewer (April 2018) said there was no WiFi, but we’re not sure if this was just a temporary situation.
