Lasting Impressions....
Memorable comments left by travellers:
"I saw a few of the local chinese passengers enter the black flaps where the luggage comes out from. A short while later, they emerged with their luggages, dusted themselves and moved off." (?)

I and my 2 friends had 2 nights sleeping in this airport. In the first time staying, we were really disturbed by many things such as noise from the construction, mosquitoes and cold air conditions. Moreover, a guard came to ask us the reason why we were there but he did not raise any objections. Cool! In the second night, we'd already learnt from the last time experience so we applied anti-insect medicine which was sold very cheap in the town. As the result, we had a nice sleep.
Advice:
You guys could sleep in fast-food shops like Mc Donald, Kungfu, which sells noodles... Just buy a ration and enjoy your sleep. The waiters and waitress are cute so they don't care about your appearance. However, you should leave the fast-food shops at 6AM. It's time for them to do their business (lol)"

I spent a night at the Guangzhou airport in mid Jan 2008 after my flight was delayed and I missed the connections for the next leg of my travel. The security moved me 3 times during the night and the 1st time wanted actually to remove me from not only the arrivals hall but from the airport itself. At about 1am was the greatest fiasco when they moved all the "left over" passengers to the departures hall upstairs. We weren't bothered anymore until about 4:30am when the airport started buzzing again for the 1st departure flights.
One of the VIP spaces there turned out rather good (for the circumstances) to sleep on - a couch! It was nice despite the removed (by the service staff, i assume) cushion which left the bare springs to sleep on.
All in all - if you end up there overnight - go directly to the departures on the 2nd flour and get as comfy as you can.
