"I wanted to fly to Kota Kinabalu on Malaysian Borneo from Singapore, but tickets are expensive for that, so I booked flights to and from nearly Johor Bahru instead. I didn't realize how inconvient it is to get from Singapore to Senai airport--aparently it is made this way by the Singapore government because they view Senai as a competitor for Changi. Due to poor planning and a slight medical emergency on my part, I got to Senai in the middle of the night, and sadly, found the airport closed. I could see a handful of people inside sleeping on the handful of benches available, but the doors were frustratingly locked, so I napped outside (in chairs used by the bus authorities in the daytime) until something like 5 am, when the doors opened. At first I felt unsafe, but then I realized that there weren't many people around, and security does not mind you hanging out. When I got inside, the (5 or 6 basic) benches were filled, so I found a corner by the bathrooms to lay down for a couple of hours in. The airport is small and reasonably clean, somewhat cold, with no stores or officies open during off-hours, and the outside is full of mosquitoes, but it's not a horrible experience. Just not comfortable."
