Sleeping in Airports

Johor Bahru Airport Guide

Whether you have a layover, overnight sleepover or you are just quickly passing through, our Johor Bahru Airport Guide is a great place to start planning your visit.  Here, you’ll find information on services and facilities available inside the airport – including details about airport lounges, WiFi, mobile charging points, lockers, 24-hour food options, nearby hotels, and everything in between.

I could see a handful of people inside sleeping on the handful of benches available, but the doors were frustratingly locked, so I napped outside until something like 5 am, when the doors opened. – a traveller

Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us during their time at Senai International Airport.

What to Expect

  • A small, laidback single-terminal international airport with clean facilities and a good variety of shopping and dining options.
  • The airport can be difficult to navigate, due to poor signage and poor lighting, especially at night.
  • Free WiFi is available. See WiFi in the airport guide below.
  • Mosquitoes all around. Wear mosquito repellent to keep them at bay!

Where to Sleep

  • If you don’t manage to grab one of the few long benches near the entrance of the terminal, there is a long empty hallway to the left of the atrium, leading to the parking lot. Have a sleeping bag or travel mat handy for added comfort!
  • For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.

Good to Know

  • The airport closes at night. Travelers will not be able to get in or out of the airport during off hours. If you plan to spend the night in the airport, make sure to show up before all doors are locked.
  • 24-hour fast food restaurants are available next to the airport, just a short walk from the terminal.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
