I could see a handful of people inside sleeping on the handful of benches available, but the doors were frustratingly locked, so I napped outside until something like 5 am, when the doors opened. – a traveller
JHB Airport Overview
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Johor Bahru Senai International Airport.
What to Expect
The small terminal at Johor Bahru Airport (code: JHB), which handles domestic and international flights, is modern, but poor signage makes navigation tricky. You’ll find a range of eateries offering Asian and Western fare as well as a variety of shops. All concessions close by 10:00 PM, but 24-hour food stalls are located just beyond the terminal’s entrance. WiFi is free for 30 minutes.
Sleeping in Johor Bahru Airport
The airport closes nightly, from 12:00 AM until 6:00 AM, but if you are inside the terminal before closing, you may be able to stay the night. Long benches are near the terminal entrance. To spread out on the floor, head to the long hallway to the parking lot, left of the atrium. A travel mat or sleeping bag makes it a bit more comfortable. For uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer a shuttle service. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info, or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.
To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s website for current information. For more airport information, continue scrolling down to explore more in our Johor Bahru Airport Guide.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security. For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
