Had a late night flight from Penang to KL. So had ample time to explore the airport.
Penang airport is open 24hrs a day, and if you have a next day onward ticket there is no one to stop you from staying over. I enquired with the airport security police himself, who said' You can sleep here happily , Sir!!'.
There are rows of chairs without hand rests which means you guys can stretch yourselves to the fullest. Also the toilets are clean and you have a McDonalds(dont know if it is open 24hrs)and couple of other eat outs.
So guys if you have plans of sleeping in Penang airport, go ahead and you can be assured of a good night sleep.
"I found the airport at Penang Malaysia to be quite comfortable. I had a short layover there in April, 2002 and was impressed by the contrast between it and Polonia Airport in Medan, Indonesia, from which I had just arrived. Penang was clean, modern, and spacious. Although the seats were typically "airport chic", there were also rows of coin operated massage chairs that were actually quite comfortable, even without using the massage feature."
