REGION: SOUTH AMERICA
Lasting Impressions....
Memorable comments left by travellers:
"I sleep there better than in my bed." (unknown)
"we headed to the lift when we cleared customs in the arrivals bit, went to the first floor and turned left just walk along here Up to 200m it's along walkway passing rows of seat without arm rests" (Dave Newton)
"BIG TIP: Second floor in the offices section, at the right hand end of the airport as you go in. There is the best cozy corner with lovely carpet and no one comes by all night." (Connor Hull)
"Probably by best airport sleeping experience." (Willem II)
"thanks go out to the guy who woke me up at 3.30 by dumping his bags on the metal chair next to my head. He then went straight to sleep and started snoring like an elephant" (dave)
"I can honestly say I have every single corner of that airport wedged into my memory." (?)

"Myself and 5 other students are studying abroad down here in Chile for a semester and decided to spend a week in Easter Island. However, the flight out was very early, so we decided to spend the night in the airport in Santiago, the first time for any of us. Reading through the past comments about SCL, I agree, you need to carefully plan your trip to the airport because the shuttle does not run after 10pm, and we were forced to pay a rather expensive taxi to get there. But once we got there, I believe the lights in the main corridor were out at midnight along with the TVs and other general noise. There were police present at all times which put us at ease, and the cleaning staff is very quite. There is a rather nice restaurant open 24 hours, but the staff, understandably, at 3am, is not the best. While some of us decided to sleep, and sleep well on the nice armless chairs, others of us decided to play a little football in the terminal itself. A little strange yes, but it helps to pass the time. We had no trouble from the staff, and actually threw the football around with the staff for a little too. Airport security very nice also...one of my friends lost his hat, and the security worker, after 20 minutes of looking, found it! Totally unexpected and very thoughtful. As for myself, I have a flight out of SCL going to Montevideo in 3 weeks that leaves very early...suffice to say I am having no second thoughts about doing this again."
