Santiago de Chile Airport Guide

santiago de chile airport guide

In this section you will find traveller airport reviews as well as our Santiago del Chile Airport Guide with info on WiFi, lounges, facilities and services....and yes, even the names of some airport hotels in case you decide that sleeping in the airport is not for you!

BIG TIP: Second floor in the offices section, at the right hand end of the airport as you go in. There is the best cozy corner with lovely carpet and no one comes by all night." - Connor

As you pass from the baggage claim to the main hall, beware of agressive taxi drivers and their representatives who are known to grossly overcharge unsuspecting tourists. As the airport does nothing to remove them from the terminal, we suggest you ignore them from the start. Do not inquire about rates. They take this as a sign of interest and will not leave you alone. The really aggressive ones will follow you around the terminal. You can arrange a fixed-rate taxi at counters within the baggage claim area before passing through to the public area.

Airport Overview

santiago de chile airport

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us during their time at Santiago de Chile Airport.

What to Expect

  • The Santiago de Chile airport has two terminals, Domestic and International, located in the same building. The terminal building is divided into four floors.
Free WiFi is available. See WiFi in the airport guide below.

Where to Sleep

  • Reviewers recommend heading airside, in both the International and Domestic Terminals, for better sleeping spots and warmer temperatures. Check out the gate areas for seats without armrests.
  • Some reviewers mentioned loud TVs and construction noise, so consider bringing earplugs or noise cancelling headphones.
  • For uninterrupted sleep, there is a hotel opposite the airport and several nearby hotels that provide an airport shuttle. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.

Good to Know

  • As you pass from the baggage claim to the main hall, beware of agressive taxi drivers and their representatives who are known to grossly overcharge unsuspecting tourists. As the airport does nothing to remove them from the terminal, we suggest you ignore them from the start. Do not inquire about rates. They take this as a sign of interest and will not leave you alone. If you are a single female, the really aggressive ones will follow you around the terminal. They even approach tourists simply waiting in the public area who show no sign of interest in taxis or tours. You can arrange a fixed-rate taxi at counters within the baggage claim area before passing through to the public area. If you do decide to use their services, make sure you get the quote in writing (count the zeros!) and have an understanding of Chilean currency, because there is a big difference between CLP 50,000 and CLP 500,000.
  • There are several airport lounges you can pay to access. A few of them also offer showers. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for locations and rates.
