East Midlands Airport

Good times

A really nice airport! They had nice long benches on which to sleep, the place was secure yet no security ever bothered me or any of the scattering of other people getting there heads down even when i got my sleeping bag and roll mat out. There was a 24 hour bar/cafe in the main terminal that sold, all be it at vast cost, sandwiches and beer and the staff were really sound and didn't mind me nursing a pint or 2 hours.
My only gripes are that it was a tad cold so be prepared to wrap up warm and their are a ridiculous amount of stupid announcements telling all these sleeping people that they are not allowed to smoke inside that always seemed to blare out just as i was nodding off!
Other than this it was a great airport

Not a bad place, but not great either

"I was reading a report regards 'East Midlands Airport' and it's an absolute load of bollox, i've slept there and it's nothing like the guy described. I arrived at East Midlands Airport at 2pm on the 29th April 2002. The airport terminal is nice and when it's busy it has a great atmosphere, yeah it's rather expensive and the bar closes early but it's all good because they allow you to sleep, i certainly didn't have a problem anyway! Myself and a friend had a flight the next morning so first off we slept on the chairs around the corner by the viewing windows, not very comfortable and announcements go off every 5 mins (even if there is no flights for the next 4-5hrs) We went downstairs and slept on more comfortable chairs and staff just walked past and left us, there was absolutely no problem with sleeping there but again the announcements were a pain and just as you started to drop off you were rudely awoken by it. We were able to refresh and change in the toilets with no problem, overall not a bad airport to sleep in :) 7/10."
Um, you may want to rethink sleeping in this place

"I arrived at this airport at 1am, in order to make a flight at 7:30am to Prague. The early train was not early enough unfortunately so I was forced to travel at night.
Sleeping here was impossible. The seats are comfortable enough, however there are annoying automated announcements every 10 minutes. Also silly buggy things with bleeping sirens kept rattling past every few minutes. Noise was quite horrendous. Still sticks in my craw 2 years later."
