Geneva Airport
Lasting Impressions....
Memorable comments left by travellers:
"The couch is located in the middle of a very long hallway, is set back into the wall in an alcove- type space, affording you some privacy, and there is a billboard on the glass wall behind you, which gives you some privacy from the baggage claim area as well." (?)
"Looks like people are finding out about the green couch opposite the Police door." (Pete)
"If not for this couch, it would've been a long night. But if you're in this airport overnight, go to great lengths to get this couch." (A. Parrish)

i was forced to stay in this airport thanks to my easyjet friends who had a 2-hour delay and made me lose the last train connection to Lyon. First train at 6 am so i thought why not try the airport.
The place is not so bad, temperature was quite ok, and is reasonably clean. The one thing that SUCKS BIGTIME is that there is absolutely no seats in the whole airport without armrests....and the seats are metallic and pretty unconfortable(at least people sleeping on them looked quite miserable)
**BIG TIP the only ok seats of the airport, which i found after wandering for an hour are some cushioned red chairs in the ground floor, in a terrace in front of the last restaurant, right next to the exit that leads you to the train station... there's one big cushioned bench but someone got it before me, i found the place around 11pm at it was already too late. Got one of the chairs though and it wasnt that bad, but if you dont find this place you're in for a horrible back-ache with those metal seats.
If you know you are staying overnight, look for this place as soon as you can and secure the bench!
Bathrooms allright, didnt see any showers.

I had a flight at 0705, so I figured I'd crash out in the airport to save some bucks. Unfortunately I got to the airport 15 hours ahead of time, so after checking my bag I took my daypack and returned to Geneva proper to explore. It was a Saturday night so I hoped to find something going on, but it was like a neutron bomb had gone off. I tried to poach some wifi in various places but Swiss efficiency kicked me out every time. I ended up watching a movie (Australia: AVOID AT ALL COSTS) but when I went back to the train station I found I missed the last train back to the terminal by 5 minutes. Tried the bus, but same story. I considered hoboing it in the train station but figured the airport would be warmer and safer, so I took a cab.
When I got there, every door was locked! Lights out... no luck. There were a few people inside but they couldn't/wouldn't open the doors for me. I wandered around and tried to find an open door for almost an hour and eventually had to pull a little B&E to keep from freezing on the sidewalk.
Once inside, I looked around for comfy place to call my own. Lots of chairs w/ armrests and cold tile but nothing I'd call inviting. Eventually fatigue got the better of me and I passed out below some chairs and was woken up by the escalator being turned on a few hours later.
All in all it was a pretty crap night and my GVA airport was the cherry on top.
