"If you're flying out of St. Pierre you could very well find yourself totally messed up since the weather can change drastically off the Newfoundland coast, and flights can be cancelled - and then you'll find yourself walking back to the little town and forking out another large chunk of French Francs for a B&B, or worse, a hotel! The airport terminal is tinier than tiny, it has three little rows of metal benches but don't expect anyone to actually let you stay there for the night. But the upside of the little island is that you can easily retreat into the hills on a warm night, find a little rocky enclave to set yourself up in, and sleep under the stars if the weather's okay. Unfortunately, the night I did this, there was a violent thunder and lightning storm around midnight which left me completely soaked! But really, there's little other choice for cheapskates except to fork out too much money for another night's accommodation (that hotel is EXPENSIVE!)."
