Bathrooms in the international wing have free showers.

Travelex offers currency exchange services near the departure gates in the international wing.

If travelling to East Timor, take many US1 with you, as well as US coins, too.

If travelling to Bali in Indonesia, the Travelex at Darwin has much better currency exchange rates that the currency exchange counters at Denpasar's Ngurah Rai Airport (Kuta). At the Darwin airport, Travelex often runs out of Indonesian Rupiahs: so, be among the first to use Travelex. Travelex is the only currency exchange workers at Darwin's airport.

Because of the ongoing UN presence in East Timur, many flights occur at night from Darwin to Dili, East Timor. I recommend sleeping at the airport instead of checking out of your hostel or hotel at 0100 for a 0400 departure.

"We had cause to arrive on an Internal flight in the early evening and our connecting flight was 7 hours later at 0200.

Unable to check our luggage in until 2 hours before our intended flight, we spent the remaining hours in broken bucket seats with nothing more interesting to do than look at the empty check in counters and an occasional security guy who wandered past. The one small coffee lounge in this check-in area that was open during the early part of the evening closed and nothing more was available until we could access the departure lounge. Once in the Departure lounge, amenities etc were were satisfactory.

The same situation occurred when we came back into the country, our International flight arrived at 0130 and we had to wait until 0700 for our Internal connecting flight.

Same uncomfortable broken bucket seats, in a deserted check in area, and no coffee lounge available until one is through the check-in counters and up in the departure lounge, an hour before departure in this case. Not good enough Darwin Airport, where middle of the night flights are a nightly occurrence."
