To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Lexington Blue Grass Airport.

What to Expect

Lexington Airport (code: LEX) consists of a small, three-level terminal with three concourses (A, B, and C). The airport features several eateries and a couple of gift shops on both sides of security. WiFi is available to help pass the time.  And for added comfort, travellers can pay to access the airport’s first-class lounge. Sleeping in Lexington Airport

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Business Center – Fully equipped meeting rooms available for rent.

Currency Exchange – Not Available

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free is not available. You will find a small selection of shops including a Bourbon Store, A Lex News and Gift Shop and the Blue Grass MarketPlace for any last minute items. Most are open at 4:30AM.

Food & Drinks – At the time of this update, there are no 24-hour dining options. You will find the following food concessions at the airport:
» Landside: Blue Grass Express (Hours: 5:00AM – 6:00PM)
» Airside: Dunkin Donuts (Hours: 4:45AM – 3:00PM) • The Bourbon Library Restaurant & Bar (Hours: 6:00AM – last flight) • Sir Veza’s Kitchen and & Kantina (Hours: 10:30AM – 6:30PM).

Information Desk – If you have any questions, visit the information center for help. Location: Lobby, landside, 1st level. Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Medical Services – Urgent and emergency medical care is available 24 hours a day at the First Aid Station.

Mobile Charging – A reader tells us that power outlets can be found underneath the seats at the gates.

Postal Services – Drop off your last minute postcards at the airport’s mailbox which is located outside the terminal entrance. Stamps can be purchased at the Information Desk.

Rest Zones – There are no dedicated sleeping areas, quiet areas or rest zones. If this information has changed, click here to update this guide.

Showers – Not available.

The airport is open 24 hours.

Keep in mind that TSA, airline check-in and baggage drop hours vary according to the flight schedule. Check these hours with your airline. If you are in the public area of the terminal (landside) you will not be able to get through to the secure area of the terminal (airside) until the morning.

transportationAirport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

 Bus

Lextran offers an express service connecting LEX airport to the downtown Transit Center on Vine Street, weekdays from 6:00AM – 6:00PM. A designated bus stop is located curbside at the airport. For route map, schedule and fare information, visit the Lextran website.

Car Rentals

Car rental desks are located on the 1st level in the baggage claim area, and rental vehicles are housed in a separate facility located next to the airport terminal. Onsite car rental agencies include Alamo • Avis • Budget • Dollar • Enterprise • Hertz • National.  Visit our travel partner at Tripadvisor to search for car rentals deals.

Hotel Shuttles

Several area hotels provide airport shuttle service: Courtyard Lexington Keeneland/Airport   •   Embassy Suites by Hilton Lexington Green   •   Hilton Lexington Suites   •   TownePlace Suites by Marriott Lexington Keeneland/Airport.

Some hotels can be reached by using the direct-dial courtesy phones available in the baggage claim area.

Taxis and shared ride shuttles are available in the ground transportation area outside of the baggage claim. All taxis are metered, and reservations are not required.
