CUZ Airport Overview
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Cusco Airport (Code: CUZ).
What to Expect
Cusco Airport has a small terminal that serves regional destinations. A new airport currently under construction will replace this airport upon completion around 2021, which should eliminate the current issues of crowds, poor organization, and general disrepair. Keep an eye out when you arrive here, as travellers have reported stolen belongings and security guards attempting bribes.
Facilities are basic, with a few casual eateries and shops. Seating is uncomfortable and extremely limited, often not enough to accommodate the amount of passengers waiting in the airport. WiFi is available in some cafes and the airport lounges, which economy class passengers can pay to enter. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information.
Sleeping in Cusco Airport
The airport operates on a limited schedule, from 5:00AM until 10:00PM, so staying the night here is not permitted. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby. See the Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. The airport is open 5:00AM – 8:00PM.

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Machines are operated by BCP, Banco Continental and Scotia Bank. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Location: Landside, near Main Entrance.
Currency Exchange – Foreign exchange services can be found on the ground floor (Landside). Euros, British Pounds and US Dollars are available.

Duty Free and Shopping – Duty Free is available as well as bookstore (Landside) and a small selection of high end shops (Airside).
Food & Drinks – Food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules. At the time of this update, we are unable to confirm the availability of any 24-hour dining options. These options are open during flight operations:

Massages – Available on the 2nd Floor, Landside. Neck and shoulder massages available in 10 – 30 minute increments.
Medical Services – There is a small health center available. Location: unknown. Hours: 6:00AM – 6:00PM.
Mobile Charging – Power outlets are available near the boarding gates.
Showers – Not available.

WiFi/Internet – WiFi is available at Cusco Airport for a fee of $5 USD per 2 hours. (updated by a traveller / January 2020)
Car Rentals
The following car rental companies have desks at the airport: Atix • MANU • Hertz • Europcar • MASTER.
Hotel Shuttles
At the time of this update we were unable to find any hotels that provide an airport shuttle. Many can arrange a taxi or car service for you at additional cost. See also Airport Hotels above.
Minibus
Travel like the locals do! If your load is light, you can travel at a fraction of the price of a taxi by taking a “combi” (shared-ride minibus), which stop at the bus stop to the right of the airport terminal exit. Before boarding, make sure the combi is going to your destination. A reader tells us the bus fare is “0.80 soles for a bus outside the entrance of the airport that will drop you a block away from plaza de armas”. (January 2020)
Taxis
Taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area. For your safety, use only the services of a clearly marked official taxi. There are no meters, so negotiate a fare with the driver before starting your journey. A reader tells us “10 to 20 soles (depends on your negotiation skills) for a taxi right by the arrivals exit and will drop you anywhere close to plaza de armas”. (January 2020)
