    improved service

    2.1.2018

    Pros: improved immigration waiting times

Cons: travel to airplane by bus, terminal is small and bathrooms are smelly

This airport has improved slightly in the past year. Immigration waiting time is less and staff are attitude has improved. However, terminal is small with no adequate seating. Bathrooms floors are always wet and smelly.

Think twice before you get here

    17.12.2017

    Pros: NIL

Cons: Small, congested, dirty loos, transit nightmare, unconfortable chairs, loud

My first time with Saudia Air, and hence the transit in Jeddah. I had a 6 and 8 hour transits(onward and return) here and this will my last. Pathetic airport with super crowded terminal. The small terminal cannot cater to more than a few thousad travellers per hour. People were scattered all over the place looking for a chair to sit on. More than 50% had to resort to sitting on the floor and stretching themselves. The bathrooms were just as crowded and dirty by normal stardards. All announcements were extremely loud and sounded rude. So, say goodbye to resting or sleeping there. If you are looking at grabbing a bite, stock yourselves from your previous airport as you wont find more than one optoin here. The chairs are limited and the recliners are endangered. Getting either of these is about winning a death match. Highly recommend any other Middle Easter Airport unless it is necessary and you have just about 2 to 3 hrs transit.

    Free food for transit passengers

    3.12.2017

    Pros: Free coffee/tea/water/meal

    Cons: cold airside

I had a 9 hrs night-stopover on a Saudia flight to Nairobi and was positively surprised with this airport.
In Terminal 2 all transit passengers were led to a transit lounge, were I spend the night lying on my own mattress. There were quite a few other people around: kids, snoring women ec, but the lounge was warm, there was a (dirty) bathroom, free coffee, tea or water and a packed meal was provided, heated in a microwave. I never had this service before as a budget traveller at any of my 200 visited airports. At 4 am in the morning all controls via airside went quick and friendly, but the departure hall made me feel like in winter, so I didn’t regret having spent the previous hours in the warm transit lounge. Some people (airside) were warmly dressed and slept on benches without armrests. If you carry earplugs and any kind of mattress with you, a night at this airport could be bearable and not unpleasant. Needless to say, that Duty Free Shops exist, but are not worth mentioning.
