To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport.

What to Expect

Izmir Airport (code: ADB) consists of a modern international terminal and an even newer (2014) domestic terminal offering a wide variety of shops and eateries, some with 24-hour service. Some reviewers found the shops and restaurants pricey, so consider bringing your own food and beverages to the airport. WiFi is available, though power outlets are reportedly hard to find. Comfort can be found through fee-based access to one of the airport’s first-class lounges in both terminals. See our Airport Lounges section for locations and rates.

Sleeping in Izmir Airport

Travellers report that airport staff are friendly and accommodating to overnight sleepers and that comfortable sleeping spots and seating can be found in both terminals. Noise and bright lights were mentioned as sleep hindrances, so consider bringing earplugs/noise-cancelling earphones and eyeshades if you intend to spend the night at the airport. For uninterrupted sleep, there is a hotel in the International terminal and other hotels nearby. See the Airport Hotels section below for locations, or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.

To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s website for current information.  For more airport information, continue scrolling down to explore more in our Izmir Airport Guide.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
