What to Expect

The small, modern terminal at Linz Airport (code: LNZ) primarily handles seasonal flights across Europe. Amenities are limited to a shop and a restaurant. The free WiFi will be your only saving grace as you wait for your flight.

Sleeping in Linz Airport

Camping out here is not possible as the airport closes nightly from 11:00PM until 5:30AM or so. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there are lounges that you can enter by paying at the door, purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program. ATMs / Cash Machines – Allgemeine Sparkasse ATMs are located in the Check-in Areas.

Baby Care Facilities – Baby changing rooms are located landside in the Departures lounge (Lower Level) and airside in the Transit Zone. Access code is required for entry, obtainable from the Information Desk.

Banking Services – Allgemeine Sparkasse offers full-service banking, ATMs and currency exchange services. Location: in the hallway between the Arrivals and Check-in Areas. Bank Hours: 8:30AM – 12:00PM (Mon-Wed).

Children’s Play Area – When you want to ensure your kids burn off all their energy before their flight, take them to the children’s play area. The space comes equipped with video games, climbing apparatus, and more! Location: Airside, Transit Zone.

Duty Free & Shopping – Available.

Fastlane – For €5, gain access to fastlane to get through security faster. The fee can be paid at the information desk.

Food & Drinks – Food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules.

Information Desk – Have any questions? There is an information desk to provide assistance. Location: in the Transit Zone, between the Departures and Arrivals areas. Hours: 5:00AM – 11:00PM.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Coin-operated luggage lockers are available for rent. A € 2 coin is required. Location: Main Car Park 1, behind the car rental offices.

Mobile Charging – Charge your mobile devices at tables in the departure area.

More Things to Do and See

  • Observation Area – Visit the observation area to watch planes take off. There is even a play area available for children. Hours: 6:00AM – 11:00PM except in Winter when it is closed. Rate: Free.
  • Guided Tour – Approximately 1.5 hours and must be booking in advance.
  • Spotter Holes – A special service for airplane enthusiasts.

The airport is open 5:30AM – 11:00PM (Mon-Fri) and 6:00AM – 11:00PM (Sat and Sun). The departure hall and parking area is open approximately 2.5 hours before the first flight daily.

transportationAirport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Buses

Public bus no. 601 connects LNZ airport to the Linz city center in 22 minutes. At the time of this update, single fare is €3.40 with discounts for children and elderly. Visit the airport website for the schedule.

Car Rentals

The following car rental companies are available: Avis • Budget • ecar-rent • Europcar • Hertz • Sixt. Offices are located in the building at Main Car Park 1.

Taxis

Taxis are located directly in front of the arrivals hall. At the time of this update, approximate fares are: Linz Central Station €30.00, Linz city center €35.00, and €50.00 to Wels city center or Wels train station.

Trains

The nearby Hörsching train station serves the airport, with a free shuttle bus connecting to the airport for those with valid plane tickets, from 5am to 10pm. The journey via shuttle only takes 3 minutes. Once there trains from the station connect to Linz and Wels. Visit the airport website for the schedule.
