What to Expect

  • A small, but modern single-terminal international airport with very limited shopping and dining options.
  • Free WiFi is available. See WiFi in the airport guide below.
  • Economy class passengers can pay to enter the airport’s first class lounge. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for locations and rates.

Where to Sleep

  • Overnight stays are not permitted in this airport.
  • For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Airport Lounges

Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

  • Lift VIP Lounge – Location: Airside, in the Schengen Departures.

Airport Hotels

If sleeping in Linz Airport does not appeal to you, there are hotels near the airport:

Airport WiFi/Internet

Free WiFi is available at Linz Airport for up to 500MB. Connect to the “blue danube airport” network. If you do not have a mobiel device, there are two free internet terminals available in the departure and transit areas.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover At The Airport

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: in the hallway between the Arrivals and Departures Areas.

Baby Care Facilities – Baby changing rooms are located landside in the Departures lounge (Lower Level) and airside in the Transit Zone. Access code is required for entry, obtainable from the Information Desk.

Banking Services – Allgemeine Sparkasse offers full-service banking and ATMs. Location: Among the airport shops. Bank Hours: 8:30AM – 12:00PM (Mon-Wed).

Children’s Play Area – When you want to ensure your kids burn off all their energy before their flight, take them to the children’s play area. The space comes equipped with video games, climbing apparatus, and more! Location: Airside, Transit Zone.

Duty Free & Shopping – There is a Heinemann Duty Free shop, as well as an airport gift shop.

Food & Drinks – Food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules.

Information Desk – Located in the Transit Zone, between the Departures and Arrivals areas. Hours: 5:00AM – 11:00PM.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Coin-operated luggage lockers are available for rent. A € 2 coin is required. Location: Main Car Park 1, behind the car rental offices.

Observation Area – Visit the observation area to watch planes take off. There is even a play area available for children. Hours: 6:00AM – 11:00PM except in Winter when it is closed. Rate: Free.

Rest Zones – Not available.

Showers – Not available.

Terrace – For a beautiful view of the airport grounds head up to the rooftop terrace. Hours: 6:00AM – 11:00PM. Rate: Free. The terrace may be closed during the winter for safety reasons.

Airport Hours

The airport is open 5:30AM – 11:00PM (Mon-Fri) and 6:00AM – 11:00PM (Sat and Sun). The departure hall and parking area is open approximately 2.5 hours before the first flight daily.

Airlines

As of February 2018, Linz airport is served by the following airlines: Austrian Airlines • Eurowing • Lufthansa • Niki • Ryanair.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Buses

Public bus no. 601 connects the airport to the Linz city center in 22 minutes. At the time of this December 2017 update, single fare is €3.20 with discounts for children and elderly. Visit the airport website for the schedule.
Trains

The nearby Hörsching train station serves the airport, with a free shuttle bus connecting to the airport for those with valid plane tickets, from 5:00AM – 10:00PM. Trains from the station connect to Linz and Wels. Visit the airport website for the schedule.

Car Rentals

The following car rental companies are available: Arac • Avis • Budget • ecar-rent • Europcar • Hertz • Sixt. Offices are located in the building at Main Car Park 1.

Taxis

Taxis are located directly in front of the arrivals hall. At the time of this December 2017 update, approximate fares are: Linz Central Station €29.00, Linz city center €35.00, and €48.00 to Wels city center or Wels train station.

Trains

The nearby Hörsching train station serves the airport, with a free shuttle bus connecting to the airport for those with valid plan tickets, from 5am to 10pm. Trains from the station connect to Linz and Wels. Visit the airport website for the schedule.
