To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Dallas Love-Field Airport.

What to Expect

Dallas Love Field Airport (Code: DAL) consists of a recently built single-concourse terminal with plenty of dining and shopping options. There are no 24-hour food options, so plan accordingly. WiFi is available and there are outlets for charging mobile devices. There are no private lounges at this airport.

Sleeping in Love Field Airport

Passengers spending the night in the terminal are sometimes directed to an area known as “Love Landing.” This area contains several couches and other comfortable chairs conducive for sleeping. If you plan to spend the night in this airport, consider bringing eyeshades to block out the bright lighting. Also consider bringing earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones to drown out public service announcements. In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Military Lounges

USO Lounge – The USO offers a lounge that is free of charge to active members of the US military and their families. Location: Airside, near the Dallas Cowboys Club. Hours: 6:30AM – 6:30PM.

In the event of bad weather or massive flight cancellations, this airport has a limited supply of cots for stranded travellers. Availability may have been affected by Covid.  If you are stranded during a weather delay, contact an airport employee to find out when the cots are located.

Art Gallery – North Texas Sunrise in the main lobby was recently named one of the top public art projects of 2014 by Public Art Year in Review. There are additional pieces located throughout the terminal.

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside and Airside (between gates 5 and 7 • between gates 13 and 15 • near the art gallery in the passenger connector between the checkpoint and the terminal • Baggage Claim Area • Love Landing • Main lobby.

Currency Exchange – Not available.

Duty Free and Shopping – Duty Free is not available here. A small variety of shops is available including 3 Hudson News locations for any last minute requirements.

Family Services

  • Restrooms – A children’s restroom is located on the West concourse, across from Gate 2. Family restrooms are located in these areas: across from the car rental / baggage claim area (landside) • under Sky Bridge (landside) • near all men’s / women’s restrooms (airside).
  • Baby Care Facilities – A nursing room is located in STEM, next to Sky Canyon. Lil’ Luv Lounge is also located in STEM, next to Creative Kids Stuff.
  • Children’s Play Area – When you want to ensure your kids burn off all their energy before their flight, take them to the children’s play area.  Location: in the connector hallway.

Food & Drinks – Food concessions in the airport close from 10:00PM – 4:30AM. Vending machines are available airside as well as one machine located landside in the Baggage Claim Area.

Information Desk – There are three information desks: one in baggage claim, one opposite the security checkpoint, and one in the center of the passenger terminal.

Luggage Carts – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage carts are available in the baggage claim area. Rates: Unknown.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Mobile Charging – There are approximately 2600 power ports and charging stations at Love Field, including over 1300 electric charging plugs and 1300 USB charging ports. All power ports and charging stations are free of charge. The Food Court area provides power ports and charging station at over 90% of the seating. The airport is not using power poles.

Pet Relief Area – Travelling with a 4 legged companion? There is a pet relief area at Dallas Love Field Airport. Location: Landside, outside Baggage Claim Area.

Love Field is open 24 hours. Flights operate from 6:00AM to 11:00PM due to noise restrictions.

Keep in mind that TSA, airline check-in and baggage drop hours vary according to the flight schedule. Check these hours with your airline. If you are in the public area of the terminal (landside) you will not be able to get through to the secure area of the terminal (airside) until the morning.

Car Rentals

DART

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit, or DART, is the public transportation system which covers the Dallas area by bus, light rail, commuter rail and HOV lanes. DART Love Link 524 is the shuttle bus that connects the airport with Inwood/Love Field station (train station). Love Field Airport passengers can take the Love Link shuttle to Inwood/Love Field station for free. For fares, schedules and routes, visit the DART website.

Shared Ride Shuttle

Aries Shuttle, SuperShuttle, Yellow Checker, Premier Transportation, Shuttle and City Shuttle provide 24-hour door-to-door shared ride or exclusive ride service between the airport and the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. Taxi

Taxis are readily available outside of the terminal, across the street from baggage claim. At the time of this update, the approximate fare from Love Field to downtown Dallas is $21 USD per passenger. There is a charge of $2 USD extra per passenger thereafter.
