Here, you’ll find information on services and facilities available inside the airport – including details about airport lounges, WiFi, mobile charging points, lockers, 24-hour food options, nearby hotels, and everything in between.
To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Guanajuato Airport.
What to Expect
Guanajuato Airport’s single passenger terminal was recently renovated, completed in the summer of 2018. Amenities include four eateries and a few shops, all of which close by 11:30PM. Free WiFI helps pass the time. Economy class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for its location and rates.
Where to Sleep
It is possible to sleep in the public area of the terminal overnight, although more comfortable options will be available to you once you pass through security. If you’ve visited this airport, please write a review to help future travellers! For uninterrupted sleep, nearby hotels offer shuttle service for guests. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships
Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter through a lounge membership program. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport
Travel like the locals do! If you are traveling light, you can travel at a fraction of the price of a taxi by taking a city bus to the main bus station in Silao, where bus connections are available to Guanajuato bus station. Buses run along the highway, about 200 meters or so from the airport. Although this is the cheapest way to travel to and from the city center, it’s not necessarily the safest, especially at night. Visit the UneBus website for more information about bus schedules.
The following car rental agencies offer service onsite: Alamo • Avis • Economy • Europcar • Fox Rent a Car • Hertz • National Car Rental • Sixt • Thrifty / Dollar.
Taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area of the airport from 4:30AM – 11:00PM at a minimum. There are no meters, so negotiate a fare with the driver before starting your journey. As of this May 2019, sample suggested fares (as per the airport) are Leon Downtown – $400 / Silao Downtown – $280 / Guanajuato Downtown – $485.
