Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us about their time at Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport.

What to expect

Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport consists of a small but quaint, two-level terminal with several eateries and shops. All restaurants and shops are closed between 7:00PM and 4:30AM, so plan accordingly if you plan to stay overnight. WiFi is available to help pass the time. There are no private lounges at this airport.

Where to Sleep

After security checkpoints close for the night, all passengers are restricted to the landside areas, and must re-clear security the next day when the checkpoints open. There are padded, armrest-free benches located throughout the terminal that may be conducive for sleep. One reviewer found quiet, semi-private, carpeted nooks underneath the stairwells in the baggage claim area. For uninterrupted sleep, there is an airport hotel linked to the terminal by covered walkway. There are also other hotels located within a quick shuttle ride of the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Airport Lounges

There are no pay-per-use lounges at the airport.
