Airport Overview

lukla airport guideTo help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Lukla Airport.

What to Expect

Lukla Airport has a tiny terminal that handles flights to Kathmandu. There’s never a dull moment at “the world’s most dangerous airport”.  Its setting high in the Himalayas offers great panoramas but white-knuckled take-offs and landings. Most travellers here are beginning or ending a Mount Everest expedition. Expect basic facilities, as we are unable to confirm the availability of eateries, shops, or WiFi.

Where to Sleep

We have no reviews from travellers who have slept at this airport. If you’ve visited recently, write a review to help future travellers! For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are in walking distance. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Airport Lounges

There are no pay-per-use lounges in the airport.
