What to Expect
St. Maarten Airport (code: SXM) consists of a mid-size terminal which received extensive damage from 2017’s Hurricane Irma. The airport has reopened.

When the prospect of sleeping on the floor or in a chair is giving you nightmares, there is good news for those of you who are looking to sleep at St. Maarten Airport in comfort. If you are on a layover, you will have to pass through immigration/security as there is no transit hotel or accommodations on the airside. Several nearby hotels can be found within a 10 minute drive from the airport. At the time of this update we were unable to find any hotels that provide free airport shuttles.
With Covid restrictions constantly changing, we recommend that you confirm shuttle availability prior to booking and/or prior to your arrival.

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: on both levels.
Banking Services – There is a bank located near the main entrance by the car rental desks, they may also be of assistance with currency exchange.

Duty Free & Shopping – There are a number of shops selling clothing, souvenirs, travel accessories, books, alcohol etc. both landside and airside. There is no designated duty-free store; however, many of the shops sell items that qualify for duty-free prices.
Food & Drink – There are a number of restaurants, cafes and bars located both landside and airside. At the time of writing, there were no 24-hour food options.
Information Desk – There is a tourist information booth located beside the car rental counter on the ground level.
