Lasting Impressions....

"I hadn't slept so well in a long time!" (Dario Margeli)

"the only annoying thing was the cleaning lady blasting past me at 3am with her cleaning machine not really worried much about all the ppl trying to sleep." - jaxstar

Good times

As for me Ferihegy 1 (terminal mostly for low-cost air companies)is the best airport i've been to. we arrived there at 3.30 at night (easy access by the way). of course all the shops were closed and several cafes as well. but one coffee cafe was opened for the whole night (except very tasty and very cheap coffee u can by salads and sandwiches there). It wasn't too crowded, there lots of cushioned benches there, staff is very friendly! After c/i the same: cafes, duty free (opened at about 5 am), not cushioned benches.
But it's the best!

Not a bad place, but not great either

I was flying back from Greece and had a overnight layover to kill in Budapest, with a very early am flight out. Since I would not be able to get back to the airport in time on public transportation in the morning, I decided to spend the evening in town and then come back to just camp out. I stayed on chairs with minimal padding and contoured plastic edges, but no arm rests. I was leaving from a special gate (14 and 15 are separated from the rest of the terminal) and although it was pretty chilly, the cleaning staff was done washing the floors by midnight, I was just around the corner from customs, and I was only woken up by security once (they just checked my passport and boarding pass, and then left me alone). Oh, and there was an individual, very clean bathroom at the gate, too. I woke up a little stiff and kind of chilly, but it wasn't too bad and I could survive it again. There were signs for showers upstairs in the main terminal, but I didn't get a chance to check them out.

Um, you may want to rethink sleeping in this place

"The airport is new and nice inside... which makes it impossible for sleeping. The airport is also small and well lit, which means that by 1am, the entire complex is devoid of all life. I was kicked out of the airport by 1:30 am. Safe, clean, but not doable. "
