What to Expect

The brand new terminal at Medina Airport (code: MED) is impressive by both environmental and architectural standards. The terminal building is divided into two main concourses: one for domestic routes and one for international, Hajj, and Umrah traffic. Amenities are plentiful, with dozens of eateries, cafes, duty-free shops, and boutiques, many of which are open 24 hours. Despite the sleek surroundings, WiFi is free for only 30 minutes. In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there are lounges that you can enter by paying at the door, purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

  • Primeclass Lounge – Location: International Terminal, Airside, Ground Floor, near Gate 112. Hours: open 24 hours. Lounge Access: Pay at the Door • Prepaid lounge pass • Lounge membership programs.

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. There are approximately 20 machines operated from a variety of banks. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: International and Domestic Arrivals halls.

Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage trolleys are available free of charge at the entrance of the departure hall (landside) and in the baggage reclaim area (airside). The airport also offers a 24 hour porter service at the same locations, for a fee of 10 SAR.

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free Shopping is offered in both the Domestic and International Departures area. A small variety of souvenir shops are also available. All stores are open 24 hours.

Food & Drinks – At the time of this update, we do not know if there are any food concessions which are open 24 hours a day. The airport offers 28 restaurants (Landside and Airside).

Information Desk – Operated by a multi-lingual staff, the information desk can answer your general questions about the airport, flight schedules and the local area. Location: Inside the airport terminal entrance. Hours: Open 24 hours.

Luggage Wrapping – Protect your bags from theft and damage by having your bags wrapped in plastic. Rate: Unknown. Location: Landside, near airport entrance.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Medical Center – The airport’s four medical clinics offer emergency medical care around the clock. If you are in need of assistance, any airport staff member can direct you to the nearest location. Locations: Meet & Greet Area, International Arrivals, Hajj Terminal and Mobile Health Clinic. Hours: Open 24 hours.

Prayer Rooms – Available throughout the departures and arrivals areas of the airport.

Rest Zones – There are no dedicated sleeping areas, quiet areas or rest zones. If this information has changed, click here to update this guide.

Travel Agencies – If you are arriving in Medina and need local arrangements or help planning a really last minute trip abroad, there is a Al Tayyar Travel Agency with offices at the airport (Terminal 3) that can probably be of assistance.

Buses

Public buses connect the airport and The Prophet’s Mosque in Medina city center. Buses depart 5 times daily; 7 during Ramadan. The ride takes 30 minutes and at the time of this update, fare is SAR 3 per trip.

Car Rentals

There are at least nine rental car companies available in the passenger terminal.
