"I slept in Wellington airport in September of this year (2002) and highly recommend it. The airport itself closes down at 1:30am (or thereabouts) and I headed off into the deserted terminal to find somewhere to sleep. A security guard soon approached me and mentioned that the airport was closed and that I couldn't sleep there but he then took me down to a small room in the carpark with a few couches and carpeted floor - the 'sleeping room'. They let me and another girl spend the night there and showed us where the security nightroom was in case we wanted to use toilets, have a cup of tea etc. The only bad point is that they shift you out of the sleeping room at 4:30am when the airport opens and then you have to spend the rest of the morning trying to sleep in the terminal amongst all the early arrivals. Definitely a lots of smiley face experience"

"This Airport closes at 4am and reopens at 6am although they don't tell you that. So when we couldn't find accommodation in the small town called Wellington, due to 10000 rugby fans, we decided to head back to the airport for a good nights kip. Since the airport was closed and deserted, the only shelter we could find was a carpark elevator. Needless to say this was not the most comfortable, and it was bloody freezing, however, a couple of hours later, when people started going up and down and we were at their feet, we decided to check out the airport. One very expensive cafe/restaurant with the worst breakfast ever, dirty seats with armrests, a toilet with 1 cold shower, and nowhere to get away from the screaming babies. It was a pleasure to get on the plane for some decent grub. (never thought I would say that)"
