Sleeping in Airports

Airport Adventures: London Heathrow Airport

all the bathroom toilets were plugged up. I talked to a custodian, he told me they clean only every 90 minutes, it was 70 minutes to go for next cleaning, so no luck.

“I passed thru LHR on my way from US to India twice Jan-Feb 2005. Both times I had 6 hour layovers.

On my way out, all the bathroom toilets were plugged up. I talked to a custodian, he told me they clean only every 90 minutes, it was 70 minutes to go for next cleaning, so no luck. I could not find any seats to relax in, let alone sleep. I wrote a complaint and dropped in a box. A British Airways flight attendant came to me and apologized in the onward flight. After I came back to US, I also got a letter of apology from the Airport management. I could not find the quite sitting area on my flight out – the signage is very bad at this airport.

On my way back, voila – I found the quiet sitting area. You have to walk all the way to the end, (lower nuber gates), go thru some passages – once you get there, no sound, no announcements, good seats – good slleeping place. Good sleep. No one distrubed me.

Food is still expensive, so bring a sandwich with you unless you want to shell out 3 for a cup of cofeee.”
