Sleeping in Airports

Airport Adventures: Bergamo Airport

Some guy decided to make a protest, telling them they are not friendly, ‘people need places to sleep’ and ‘where is your hospitality in Italy?’

I had a flight at about 8 a.m. so I decided to spend the night in this airport. Big mistake.

It was January and it was pretty cold, and the best place to sleep was near the check-in counters which were far from any door. BUT at 12 midnight when flights finished, the staff EVACUATED all people out to a very narrow space in front of the airport entrance, where too few seats were available and the cool air from the opening doors was a killer.

Some guy decided to make a protest, telling them they are not friendly, ‘people need places to sleep’ and ‘where is your hospitality in Italy?’ I supported him with the result that the security guy got into conflict with us and rudely took back the chair that I managed to get from 10 meters away, behind the not allowed line.

So don’t try it if you have other options, unless you want to sleep on the floor with many people around. The airport is quite small so you’ll be bothered after 4 a.m. by passengers coming for early flights. Security is very arrogant and not reasonable.
