Sleeping in Airports

Bergamo Airport Guide

Whether you have a layover, overnight sleepover or are just quickly passing through, our Bergamo Airport Guide is a great place to start planning your visit.  Here, you’ll find information on services and facilities available inside the airport – including details about airport lounges, WiFi, mobile charging points, lockers, 24-hour food options, nearby hotels, and everything in between.

The security staff will not let you sleep, they will kick you to [the] arrival area, then in two hours to [the] departure area and in another hours they keep running around you to wake u up. Horrible. Only one working electric outlet in [the] whole airport. Did I mention toilets ? Horror! You will not believe this until you check it on your own. -mandela

BGY Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport (Code: BGY).

What to Expect

Bergamo Airport is a mid-size, two-level terminal with 11 departure gates and a wide selection of eateries and shops on both sides of security. WiFi is available, and there are some charging stations. For additional services and comforts, economy-class passengers can pay to access one of the airport’s private lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.

Sleeping in Bergamo Airport

Due to early morning flight departures, the airport terminal is often crowded at night. Bergamo Airport has not generally received stellar reviews from travellers who have attempted to sleep there. Seating is scarce throughout the terminal, the terminal is very cold, and airport staff are known for waking sleeping travellers. Some travellers have found sleeping nooks on the landside, such as a small passageway near the tourist information desk at one end of the terminal. It would be best to come prepared to sleep or sit on the floor. A reader tells us, “The departures area is closed from 12:00 AM to 3:00 AM, and they will move everybody there to the arrivals zone, so if you are going for an early morning flight, don’t bother going past arrivals!” Explore our guide to sleeping in Bergamo Airport or read traveller reviews for more tips. For uninterrupted sleep, there are nine sleep pods in the terminal and hotels nearby. See Airport Hotels in the guide below.

To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can write a review and submit airport tips and photos. For more airport information, continue scrolling down to explore more in our Bergamo Airport Guide.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
