The lady flagged down an employee of the airport, who spoke Spanish like her, and told her that there was nothing he could do about it, and we just had to risk it sleeping there.
The evening started at 10pm, as I returned to LaGuardia from a Yankees game. All started out well as I was able to find a seat with an outlet next to it and charge my phone. Around 11:30pm, when I became drowsy, it was impossible to fall asleep in the hard plastic chairs with the hard plastic armrests. The lady beside me, who didn’t speak a lick of Engligh, was obviously as uncomfortable as me, so we both moved to padded chairs a little ways down(still had the hard plastic armrests). So, as soon as we hit the chairs, the janitors come in to clean, no big deal, except the fact they start blaring their personal music and it is impossible for anyone to try to get any sleep. Around 12:30am, the woman beside me startled me from a light sleep, when she gave a little shriek, to my surprise, was because two men were there trying to steal her purse as she was sleeping. Obviously, in the situation, there was no way either of us felt safe or felt comfortable enough to fall back asleep. The lady flagged down an employee of the airport, who spoke Spanish like her, and told her that there was nothing he could do about it, and we just had to risk it sleeping there. Once 2am rolled around and I realized staying around this woman wasn’t gonna help me get some shut-eye, I ventured out to find a new spot. I ended up between the escalator to the 3rd floor, and the entrance to the security lines. I was able to fall asleep for about 45 minutes, but the chair was so uncomfortable I wasn’t able to stay there long. I finally found myself a little spot at the JetBlue Check-in, and slept until close to 4am, when everything opened up. As I went to stand up, 3 mice ran across the floor maybe 10 feet in front of me. Awesome. I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here. It’d be so much safer just to stay at a nearby hotel. Also, there was some construction going on down the ways which caused a little noise, but they triggered the fire alarm around 5 times that night.
