Sleeping in Airports

Airport Adventures: Istanbul Ataturk Airport

by Greg86

we got to the airport with the hopes of only staying one night. a week went by and we were gaunt, stank and spirits were low.

“once upon a time there was a guy and a gal, 24 and 22 respectively. We had a pocket full of dreams and 10. we got stuck in Istanbul because we were hasty and bought a spur of the moment on way ticket to meet a friend.

one month went by, we ran out of our parents money, we had no where to go, so we went to the airport. train ride was fine. we got to the airport with the hopes of only staying one night. a week went by and we were gaunt, stank and spirits were low.

i’ll start with the airport- it was clean- which posed a problem cause at about 4am every morning, the cleaner would kick us off our plush benches that we had to fight tooth and nail for with fat old men, so they could clean the area.

the benches had cushions- which was fine, but im 6 foot 4- so i couldnt fit- after a few days you learn how to manouver your body to fit the bench- in the end, we were one with bench.

did i mention the lack of funds? which resulted in myself eating the free mayonaise from the burger king and eating peoples leftovers from the cafes upstairs.

long story short. the seats are cosy enough. the leftovers are decent and the cleaners are annoying.

oh, and no one was very helpful when we begged for a computer to use so we could send out and SOS.

Merhabbbaaa Istanbul

love Greg and Keate”
