New Relaxation Area in Helsinki Vantaa Airport

Update: this lounge was a test project that operated from September – November 2013.

Any day now, Helsinki Vantaa Airport will be opening a cool new relaxation area with different kinds of easy chairs and separate, closed spaces with beds and sleep pods.

The Relaxation Area is located in Terminal 2, next to gate 31.

Over the past few years, Helsinki Vantaa has emerged as a leader in providing transit travellers with services and comfort to enjoy during their stay in the airport.  The airport currently offers free wifi, rest zones with lounge chairs, a book swapping station, and pay-in lounges among other services.

The Relaxation Area is a pilot project of Vantaa Innovation Institute’s Airport Concepts project.  Travellers who use the space will be requested to submit feedback so that they can further develop this new service.

Doesn’t this new space look great? It even looks like they have some carpet and pillows for those of us who don’t get a chair or bed and don’t mind the floor.   On my next flight to Europe, I’m going to look into flying via Helsinki.  Hopefully I’ll have a nice long layover.

Thank you Helsinki Airport and Vantaa Innovation Institute for thinking of us sleepy travellers!

The lounge is free to all travellers and open 24 hours.
