Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

OASTH public bus route 78 travels between Macedonia Intercity Bus Station in western Thessaloniki and the airport, with departures every 30 minutes. Stops along the route include Platia Aristotelous, in the city center, and Neos Sidirodromikos Stathmos, Thessaloniki’s main railway station. Route 78N runs the same route in the evening and late night hours, and route 78A makes one single trip at 5:00AM in the direction of the airport. A complete one-way journey from the intercity bus station to the airport takes about 40 minutes and costs € 2.00 (students and senior citizens pay € 1.00). Tickets can be purchased on board from a ticket machine using exact change, as the machine does not make change. For more information on these routes and other public buses, go to the OASTH website.

Car Rentals

Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt have car rental kiosks inside the Arrivals Hall of the passenger terminal.

Hotel Shuttles

Several area hotels provide airport transportation service as a courtesy to their guests. Here are a few hotels offering airport shuttle service:

There is a taxi rank outside of the Arrivals Hall of the passenger terminal. A one-way trip between the airport and city center by taxi takes around 30 minutes and costs about € 20. During rush hour, it may be difficult to secure a taxi from city center to the airport, so allow plenty of time for this if attempting to hire a taxi from the street. If possible, pre-book your taxi ride to the airport.
