What to Expect
Alice Springs Airport has a single terminal servicing 10 gates. Other than a couple of shops and two small eateries, there are few services a the airport, though there is free WiFi. Where to Sleep
The airport closes at night, so there is no overnight sleeping allowed. For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.
In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.
Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside and Airside.
Baby Care Facilities – Location: Airside, accessible to departing and arriving passengers.
Baggage Trolleys – Trolleys are available free of charge. You can find them in the car parks, baggage collection area and throughout the terminal.
Disabled Services – Wheelchairs available on request, and the full airport accommodates people with reduced mobility.
Drinking Water – Thirsty? Drinking water fountains with chilled water are available free of charge.
Duty Free & Shopping – A newsstand and souvenir shop are available in the airport.
Food & Drink – Landside you will find a cafe called Steve’s Kitchen and Airside offers a full-service restaurant called Cafe Terra Rosa.
Information Desk – Location: Baggage Claim area, landside, eastern side of the terminal, near the vending machines, tables and baggage carrousel.
Luggage Storage & Lockers – Left luggage service is offered at the Oversize Baggage Room. Location: Opposite the Airport Management Centre and next to the First Aid Room. Storage fees start at $5 per day.
Medical Services – A First Aid room is available. Location: Opposite the Management Centre. Hours: unknown.
Post Office – A post box is available Airside, near the restaurant entrance.
Rest Zones – Not available.
Showers – Location: Airside, accessible to departing and arriving passengers.
Smoking Area – Smoking is allowed airside only in the restaurant’s outdoor patio area.
Travel Agencies – Information not available.
According to the airport website, the airport opens 90 minutes before the first scheduled aircraft arrives, and closes 20 minutes after last scheduled aircraft departs.
As of February 2018, Alice Springs airport is served by the following airlines: AirNorth • Chartair • Qantas • Virgin Australia.
Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport
The Alice Wanderer shuttle bus connects the airport and city center regularly. Rates as of this November 2017 update: AU$16.50 single ride or AU$30.00 return ride. Prices are reduced if there are multiple riders and tickets can be purchased at the airport or online at the Alice Wanderer website.
Car rental companies located at the airport are: Avis • Budget • Europcar • Hertz • Thrifty.
Taxis can be found outside of the arrivals area.
